Get to know the doctor

Dr. Katherine N. Van Wagenen

Dr. Katie

Dr. Katie grew up in Saratoga Springs, New York. She was active in Girl Scouts, 4-H club, and played field hockey, lacrosse, and basketball throughout her school-age years.

She attended the State University at Plattsburgh where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. She was on track to obtain a PhD until she worked as a Research Fellow at Syracuse University where she quickly realized that working 8-hours per day in a laboratory was not her cup of tea. Being an extrovert and leading an active lifestyle, Dr. Katie switched gears and decided to pursue a career in chiropractic.

The chiropractic profession appealed to Dr. Katie from the start as she deeply values natural, holistic care, health and wellness. She attended D'Youville College in Buffalo, New York where she received her Doctorate in Chiropractic and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. During her graduate internship she became involved with research and published a case study in the peer-reviewed Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association (1); as well as, co-authored and presented research at the Association of Chiropractic Colleges Research Agenda Conference in March 2014 (2).

After passing her board examinations she was ready for a change of scenery and moved to Texas where she has been practicing as a sport therapy chiropractor since July 2014.

In April 2017, Dr. Katie and her business partner opened Jet Engine CrossFit where she moved to practice full-time & officially branded Summit Sport Therapy. Two years later, Summit Sport Therapy moved to its current location to foster growth & expand patient services.
