Instrument-Assisted
Soft Tissue Mobilization
Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), such as Graston Technique, is a form of manual therapy that uses stainless steel tools to break up scar tissue adhesions found in muscles, tendons, and/or ligaments.

Research has shown IASTM to be an effective therapy for numerous conditions including low back pain (1), knee injuries (2), tennis elbow (3) and Achilles tendinopathy (4).

IASTM:
- reduces pain & breaks up scar tissue

- promotes healing of soft tissue injuries

- increases flexibility

- increases range-of-motion

Dr. Van Wagenen has been trained and routinely utilizes IASTM techniques such as Graston Technique, in everyday practice.
